A few days ago I was doing a mini detox on my PC and I found my daughter’s invitation card for her first birthday. Just one glance at that picture and the flood gates of memories were opened.  Even though at that point in my life, I was not truly having the best moments neither would I  have thought of  hosting a party if it was for me but you can always count on the immense power of a mother’s love. I swung into  action and planned the birthday party alone; from designing the cards, party packs, cooking and baking every sweet or savoury food that was eaten.    Thanks to an oven, cooking was always easy breezy. Where did all that energy come from? Heck!!!! I’m not sure I can swing that 72 hour cooking marathon today. Amidst the over 13 different items to eat and drink; I baked shortbread too for the first time and it was divine, the guests could not believe it was homemade. One of the reasons I don’t cook much anymore is because as much as cooking is (or rather was) my hobby, I ate it all up too. Let’s just agree that I used food to solve all my emotional problems, I doubt it was a hobby.     After the guests left and I got the pictures, I couldn’t share A SINGLE picture. Most pictures were of my baby girl and I and if I was in it, I wasn’t sharing it. This simply meant only three pictures were for public view.     I had been taking pictures sparingly but they were all selfies so I had never seen an up close and full body image of  me. All I could see was A LARGE WOMAN. I already did not like myself or my body much but this…THIS WAS REVOLTING. I wasn’t taking care of myself too in so many ways and it showed.    Phew!!! My weightloss experiments. I had tried many times and quit. Even cajoled my husband into buying me gym equipment which I had not unwrapped 30 days or more later. I was miserable for days, so much for planning a party. The pictures are still on my laptop thanks to using external hard drives…
