Before you pop that little one, you need to read everything you can about taking care of a newly born baby and breastfeeding is definitely one of them. You might think “oh, it’s just to bring out the breast and dip the nipple into the baby’s mouth.”
What if we tell you it’s way more than that? Surprised? Read the breastfeeding tips you should know:
Breastfeeding isn’t so easy. For a start, yes! Just because it is natural doesn’t means it’s so easy. You will probably have sore or cracked nipples and this makes it more painful – although this will end between 7-10 days. So prepare yourself for this.
Babies eats a lot. Are you ready to wake up at the wee hours of the night? Get prepared! Your baby can feed at any time and frequently too. So be ready to breastfeed as often as you can.
Make use of breast cover. You might be shy to just pop out your breast in public. That is where breast covers come in to help. Always have them handy, because your baby will need to be fed at any time.
Get hydrated. You must always keep yourself hydrated. Drink as much water as you can. Aside from being very good for your health, nursing your baby requires you to drink more water. Try to keep a glass of water close to you at all times to make it easier for you.
Trust your body. Many new mums get scared of not producing enough milk for their baby. But don’t you worry, the more you breastfeed, the more milk your breast produces. So trust your body.
Feed on demand. Many mums love to adopt the feed on schedule method. Although, at the beginning, you might need to remind your baby to feed, but with time, you should trust your baby to ask for food when he’s hungry.
