5 Health Benefits Of Yoga

July 9, 2018

Most times, when we think of Yoga, we immediately dismiss it thinking it’s something that is really hard to do or we feel it’s not for “people like me.” But then, we admire women who practice yoga, at least for their flexibility. Yoga has so many health and wellness benefits and it would be of immense benefit when we begin to put it into practice. Still not sure of how Yoga will be of benefit to you? We’re here to tell you.

Helps you focus. If you have the problem of getting easily distracted, then Yoga is just for you! An important component of yoga is focusing on the present and studies have found that regular yoga practice improves coordination, reaction time, memory, and even IQ scores. It helps you focus on the present and helps you think and meditate better.

Helps reduce blood pressure. Many people suffer from high blood pressure today. If you’re one of them, then you might benefit from yoga. This little exercise could just be the answer you need.

Makes you happy. Being happy is good for your mental and psychological wellness and Yoga helps you achieve consistent happiness. A study found that a consistent yoga practice reduced depression. So are you unhappy? Try Yoga.

Relaxes your system. Yoga encourages you to relax, slow your breath, and focus on the present. It shifts you away from the  the fight-or-flight mental state to a more calming and restorative state. This helps to lower breathing and heart rates, decreases blood pressure, and increases blood flow to your organs – thereby relaxing your body system.

Builds muscle strength. You might need to start thinking of your old age, and one way to fight against conditions like arthritis, back pain, and constant falls in elderly people is to practice yoga. Yoga not only helps you build stronger muscles and strength, it also helps you to balance it with flexibility.
