Most businesses crash easily within the first year of business. Why? It is because the business owners lost the motivation and the will power to keep going. They faced challenges like every other business owner, but the motivation to keep fighting those challenges was lost.
We don’t want this to be your story. Here’s how to maintain focus and stay motivated as a business owner.
Have a personal mission and motivational statement. Create a mission and motivational statement so that when the going gets tough, you can mutter the statement to remind yourself why you set up the business in the first place. This might sound silly, but muttering this statement is a way of encouraging yourself to keep going.
Get inspirational books. Sometimes, motivation comes from books. When you read inspirational books, something awakens in you that will make you get up and keep going. Also be engaged in inspirational activities, programs, listen to podcasts, a TED talk or any other thing that can inspire you.
Set time for yourself. Yes, in the midst of work, work and work, you still have to create time to unwind. When you do not set time for yourself, work overwhelms you negatively, it becomes depressing and it will make you want to snap out of it. Create time for yourself, rest, think, and get yourself motivated.
Engage friends. No man is an island. At times, you need people to gear you up and your friends can do that. Talk to your (good) friends about your business and let them help in lifting up your spirit.
Always be optimistic. Optimism is very important in your business. If you constantly think negatively about your business, then you cannot get motivated. Instead, you would be found brooding and sulky most of the time. If possible, shut your eyes, lock yourself up in your fantasies and imagine how your business will spread round the whole world.
